CPRTC (China Packaging Research and Testing Centre) undertakes a great amount of works to promote the technical development and progress of packaging industry with its impact on packaging industry and testing field while striving to develop its professional works. In 2002, the center joined International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) and became a member, and gradually became the most active Chinese member of ISTA. ISTA was founded in 1948 with its headquarter in USA. It was National Transportation Safety Board (NTSC) when it was first founded, and was rather influential in USA and other countries and regions after gradual growth. Later in 1980s, the name was changed to ISTA. At present, the association has over 800 members in the fields ranging from manufacture, logistics and laboratory. Many of the top 500 companies in the world, such as Microsoft, P&G, UPS, FedEx, HP and GE are all their members. The association has established its position of authority in the field of international transportation packaging technologies with ISTA serial transportation packaging testing standard, Transit Tested logo certification, CPLP certification and extensive technological and information communication. Along with the increasing influence of the center in the association, ISTA realized the impact of the center on the circle of Chinese transportation packaging. ISTA hoped that the center could work on the development of ISTA in China, therefore both parties signed a cooperation agreement in USA in 2006 to authorize the center as the exclusive service agency of ISTA in China to deal with all the businesses of ISTA in China and provide services for ISTA’s Chinese members. Meanwhile, Mr. Li Hua, the director of the center, is appointed as a director of ISTA and the president of ISTA-China. Since 2006, the ISTA annual symposium has been held in China in every autumn by the center. The symposium, like the annual forum held in USA in the first half of every year, is the routine annual conferences of ISTA. The center is very important for domestic enterprises to learn international latest transportation packaging technologies and standard information and strengthen the technological exchange with world famous enterprises.
