As a professional packaging research institution, the CPRTC (China Packaging Research and Testing Centre), depending on the strength of the centre’s testing laboratory, and taking science, technology and the market as the orientation, has been striving to research on packaging technologies and packaging testing methods, research and develop packaging testing instruments and establish and revise packaging standards. Over the years, in order to satisfy the demands of the nation and the industry, the centre has actively developed the research projects such as the ‘research on comprehensive utilisation technology of waste paper’, the ‘research on serial testing instruments on spray cans’ and the ‘research on monitoring instruments for logistics environment data’. Several research projects have received endowments from the Ministry of Finance, and the High-tech Special Funds of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The centre at the same time has developed several study subjects together with universities and enterprises, some of which have received the Advanced Technology Award (Provincial level). And a total of 25 research achievements have applied and acquired patents. As the leader of the packaging industry, in recent years especially, the center has established nearly one hundred standards for the country, industries and enterprises. It participates in the revision of international standards on behalf of China and makes proposals for the country to vote in the international standard system. Based on years of testing experience, the centre has developed more than 10 packaging testing equipment, which has been widely used by manufacturing enterprises, quality testing institutions and universities.
